Overview / Career Prospects:
This Program is designed to train students to be fully conversant in aiding and assisting people of every age group. The Program prepares students to help seniors / adults with physical disabilities and families with everyday activity and personal care. Graduates of this Program would be able to sit for the NACC Examination.
Opportunities for Personal Support Workers (PSW) are getting better and better. The current employment outlook in this area is very bright with all the students passing this course from MLC finding jobs, making it an optimally employed profession. What makes this profession unique is the dependence on it by a vast segment of aged and needy population, estimated to be around 20% of the population of Ontario ( which could be roughly 35 to 38% of Canada¡¯s population). To cater to the needs of this section of people of Ontario, it is imperative that increased number of health care workers, especially qualified Personal Support Workers, are absolutely vital. Unlike some other categories, the category of PSW is not at all anywhere near the point of saturation; employment opportunities for people with right skills as imparted by the Maple Leaf College, are abundant.
